Croydon Youth Arts Collective // Youth Facilitator
Croydon Youth Arts Collective, 2016 - 2017 - UK
During 2016 and 2017, I supported the Croydon Youth Arts Collective (CYAC) a group of 10 young people aged 13-19 from Croydon, London, to develop their first large-scale event, the Youth Arts Takeover festival, at the Croydon Clock Tower. The event is now a yearly festival, attracting young people and theirs families to engage in the arts.
Across a series of week long intensive workshop programmes and regular meetings, I worked with the group to realise their ambitious programme. Together we worked on building their individual goals and skills base, whilst challenging them to be ambitious and work collectivity as a team to drive the project forward. From, producing project times lines, marketing, design, artistic programming, budgeting, front of house management, and more, we worked on the key elements for developing a large scale family event. The use of energetic warm ups, forum theatre and role playing allowed for the process to be creative, engaging and enabled CYAC to be reflective and confident about the task at hand.
